On February 24, 2015 EQUITY law firm successfully represented a well-known Ukrainian filmmaking company SOTA Cinema Group in Higher Economic Court of Ukraine in a dispute with the State Cinema Agency of Ukraine. The subject matter of the trial the claims of State Cinema Agency to terminate the agreement for production and distribution of the movie “Innocent Saturday”, produced by Oleg Kohan, owner of the film production company. Also State Cinema Agency required recovery of funds in the amount of 16 million UAH.

The recent decision of the Higher Economic Court of Ukraine has put the final touches in a number of lawsuits initiated by the State Cinema Agency regarding two films – “Innocent Saturday” and “And a Warm Heart” produced by the company SOTA Cinema Group, amounting to 25 million UAH. In September 2014 the Economic Court of Kyiv supported with its decision the position of the filmmaker in the disputes regarding both films.

Both of the films were shot timely and successfully presented at the international cinema market. The film “And a Warm Heart” was starred by the leader of Ukrainian theatre Bohdan Stupka. Both films received numerous international film festival awards.

The interests of the producer were represented by EQUITY partner Oleg Malinevskyy and lawyer Andriy Ivaniv.
