EQUITY Counsel Dmytro Bondarchuk participated in the III Anti-Corruption Forum

EQUITY Counsel Dmytro Bondarchuk participated in the III Anti-Corruption Forum
Counsel at EQUITY Dmytro Bondarchuk spoke on the topic "Excessive bail – a necessity or a tribute to fashion" during the second session of the III Anti-Corruption Forum of the Ukrainian Advocates' Association

Dmytro shared his vision of the practice of setting bail in corruption proceedings, emphasising that it requires a balanced approach. After all, multimillion-dollar amounts often lack sufficient logical justification and may contradict the purpose of bail – to ensure proper procedural behaviour, not punishment.
According to the Counsel, when determining the amount of bail, it is necessary to take into account the circumstances of the criminal offence, the risks provided for in Article 177 of the CPC of Ukraine, as well as the property and marital status of the suspect or accused.

Dmytro also highlighted the experience of the United States, where the approach to bail is more flexible, allowing for a balance between the interests of the investigation and the rights of the individual.
