Techniques of Attorney (Preparation for Trial and Methods of Persuasion, 2017)
EQUITY partners Oleksandr Lysak and Yaroslav Zeikan are presenting to the attention of attorneys’ community the second edition of the book Techniques of Attorney (Preparation for Trial and Methods of Persuasion)
The book elaborates on the issue of trial attorney techniques, the issue which still remains unexamined in the system of legal science, but which is crucial for practical activity of an attorney (defense lawyer).
In writing their book the authors used pieces of advice from the handbook Win Your Case: How to Present, Persuade, and Prevail - Every Place, Every Time by American trial attorney Gerry Spence, as well as the materials on examination of witnesses prepared by professor Judy Potter from the University of Maine, USA, for the Pomor State University (Russia) received privately by the authors. Authentic scripts of interrogations kindly provided by the US authors give an insight into working process of defense attorneys in similar circumstances during American trial.
The book also includes examples from American practice presented in the guide for prosecutors Art of Making Argument in Court based on works of American authors Thomas A. Mauet, Richard Wise, Martin Mayfair, Barry Cushman, Dorothy Clay Sims. As far as the issues of techniques and tactics of cross-examination are concerned, materials from the book Cross-examination in Court by O. Oleksandrov, S. Hryshin, Y. Zeyikan were widely used.
The book is intended for attorneys, judges, prosecutors, students of higher legal educational establishments.
