EQUITY acted as the General Partner of the III Arbitration Forum

EQUITY traditionally acted as the General Partner of the III Arbitration Forum held on May 17, 2023.

This year, the leitmotif of the Forum was the topic of determining the place of international arbitration in the process of recovering damages from the russian federation.

Oleg Malinevskiy, Managing Partner at EQUITY, moderated the first session of the Forum "International Arbitration in Ukraine and Worldwide". 

"If earlier arbitration was seen as an alternative to court practice, now, in times of war, arbitration can be a potential mechanism for protecting both business and citizens." 

Together with Zoia Lytvynenko, Secretary General of the ICAC, Maksym Yurkov, Chief Legal Officer of NPC Ukrenergo, Arsen Miliutin, Contractual Counsel at METINVEST HOLDING LLC, Dmitry Shemelin, Investment Manager and Senior Legal Counsel at Omni Bridgeway, and Roman Protsyshyn, Counsel at Ilyashev & Partners Law Firm, we created a real discussion platform and discussed a number of relevant and important issues:

• How do the war years look like for Ukrainian arbitration institutions?
• Are there any practical tools for obtaining compensation from France?
• How promising is external financing of arbitration proceedings against Russia?
• Has the attitude towards Ukrainian arbitration institutions changed during the war?
• Post-war expectations from global arbitration with a Ukrainian element
