EQUITY team has succeeded in having the notices of suspicion and notices of renewed suspicion against clients withdrawn!

In 2022, EQUITY’s clients were notified of charges and of new charges in criminal proceedings relating to tax evasion and the legalisation of assets.
Subsequently, a warrant was issued for the arrest of one of the clients, whilst a decision was also taken to issue a warrant for the arrest of the other client due to his presence outside Ukraine. An international search warrant and an Interpol Red Notice were issued for one of the clients. Furthermore, the court ordered pre-trial detention as a preventive measure, and the client’s assets were seized.
EQUITY’s lawyers applied to the court to have the notice of suspicion and the notice of a new suspicion set aside. In January 2024, an investigating judge at the Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv quashed the notice of suspicion and the notice of a new suspicion against one of the clients. The prosecutor disagreed with this decision; however, in February, the Kyiv Court of Appeal upheld it.
The annulment of the notice of suspicion and the notice of new suspicion provided the grounds for the termination of the international search: in April 2024, the client was removed from the records of the Interpol General Secretariat. That same month, the court lifted the seizure of his property and the preventive measure in the form of detention.
A similar outcome was achieved for the second client in 2025–2026. In November 2025, the court quashed the notice of suspicion and the notice of a new suspicion, and in March 2026, the Kyiv Court of Appeal upheld this decision. In July 2026, the search for the client was terminated, and he was removed from the state ‘Wanted’ database.
As a result of the legal challenge on behalf of EQUITY’s clients, the notices of suspicion and notices of new suspicion were quashed, and the search warrants were revoked; in one case, the international arrest warrant was also revoked. Furthermore, the seizure of assets and the pre-trial detention order were lifted.
When strategy and tactics work in synergy, a positive outcome for the client is the norm.
The clients’ interests were represented by EQUITY’s lawyers:
