EQUITY Joins LHS DH “Reform of Criminal Justice: Assessment of Effectiveness”
Assessments of effectiveness of the reform of criminal justice were shared today during LHS DH Reform of Criminal Justice: Assessment of Effectiveness participated and co-moderated by Taras Poshyvaniuk, an EQUITY partner.
The participants agreed with the partner that the acute problem of violation of defense lawyers’ rights and lack of mechanisms to hold investigators and prosecutors liable, undoubtedly, prevents from exercising justice, with “almost the only positive novation of the reform being liquidation of the military prosecutor’s office.”
Also, the participants discussed the problem of defense at the phase of pre-trial investigation, possibility to introduce new mechanisms of determining jurisdiction and practical problems of representing legal entities.
Thank you, Legal High School and participants for such wonderful discussion!
