Court extends the term of pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings against Igor Mazepa to 9 months

The Pechersk District Court of Kyiv has extended the pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings against Igor Mazepa, represented by EQUITY attorneys, for up to 9 months.

As a reminder, this criminal proceeding concerns the alleged illegal allocation of land plots.

The Pechersk Court partially granted the request of the State Bureau of Investigation and extended the pre-trial investigation period to nine months, until August 28, 2024.

The investigation motivated its request by the fact that during the investigation, sufficient evidence was not collected to prosecute and transfer the criminal case to the court for consideration on the merits.

It is important to note that this criminal proceeding was registered back in 2014 and has been ongoing for almost 10 years, and therefore it remains unclear why this time was not enough to carry out the necessary investigative actions.
