EQUITY supported an Online conference «Compensation for war damage»

On August 31 an online-discussion «Compensation for war damage» took place.

The first session of the event was dedicated to War Damage Compensation: Mechanisms and international experience under moderation of EQUITY partner Oleg Malinevskiy and Benchers Law Firm partner Oleg Velendiuk.

With the experts we discussed extremely relevant to Ukraine and Ukrainians questions:

  • Possibilities of Ukrainian justice and precedent practice of the Supreme Court regarding the immunity of the aggressor state.
  • Prospects for the establishment of new "convection mechanisms" for Ukraine.
  • Practice of the Supreme Court on compensation of damages caused by war and international legal experience of compensation of damages caused by war.
  • Possibilities and mechanisms of criminal justice to recover damages caused by the russian federation.

EQUITY's senior associate Ivan Olshevskiy participated in second part of the online-discussion «Compensation for war damage» that was dedicated to peculiarities of war damage compensation in banking sector.

During his speech Ivan focused on the issue of damage or destruction of mortgaged property. He paid attention to action algorithms of both creditor and debtor in case of damage or destruction of mortgaged property, analyzed the legislator's plans to "forgive" loans.

Also speakers discussed peculiarities of damages calculation, issues of determining the amount of damage caused by losses of financial assets.
