The School of Criminal Practice has started a new semester

On February 18, 2019, Legal High School, an innovative educational platform, opened a new semester in the Criminal Practice School, where EQUITY is the general partner.

Oleksandr Lysak, an EQUITY partner, joined the team of speakers of the School with the topic "Use of materials of secret investigative (search) actions to build the defense strategy. Court practice on recognition of the results of secret investigative (search) actions as inadmissible evidence ". The partner told the audience how to confront the investigator or the prosecutor when they use the materials of secret investigative actions, and recommended not to miss the opportunity to consult colleagues or experts on how to challenge the investigative actions in court. He also noted that the more professional the pre-trial investigation bodies become, the harder it is for attorneys to prove the innocence of a person. Therefore, attorneys must constantly work on improving their professional skills.

Bogdan Slobodian, a senior associte at EQUITY, also joined the team of experts of the School of Criminal Practice with the theme «Bail as a preventive measure. The practice of calculating the amount. ECtHR judgment in Gaf v. Malta on excessive amount of bail».

The attorney told the audience about the general rules for application of bail and the determination of the amount of bail in exceptional cases. He also analyzed the practice of the European Court of Human Rights in Gafa v. Malta.
