Anna has many years of professional experience in the field of human rights and investment protection.
A judge of the European Court of Human Rights (2010-2022).
After leaving the ECHR, returned to the legal profession.
Hanna is the only UN mandate holder in Ukraine and Vice-Chair of the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention.
Vice President of the European Community of International Law since 2023.
Education:
Law School of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Master of Law and European Studies (University of Strasbourg). PhD in Law since 2008.
- Led the Genocide Research Project in Ukraine and Moldova (now the Shoah Institute at the University of Southern California) - 1996-2001.
- A member of the Pechersk Bar Association in Kyiv and has handled a number of criminal cases, including high-profile political cases during the Orange Revolution, as well as white-collar cases since 2001.
- Advisor to the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights - 2009-2010.
- The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe elected Ms Yudkivska as a judge of the European Court of Human Rights from Ukraine in 2010.
- Vice-President of Section V of the Court - 2015-2016.
- President of Section IV of the Court for Human Rights - 2017-2019.
Scientific activities:
- Associate Professor at the Academy of Advocacy of Ukraine.
- Lectures in many educational programmes for judges and lawyers.
- Teaches at universities in the USA, Germany, the Netherlands, France, Israel, etc.
- The author of numerous scientific publications on criminal law, human rights and international law.
