Appeal Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court upheld an acquittal of Volodymyr Omelyan - Ukrainian ex-Minister of Infrastructure!
We should recall that according to the Indictment from 06.11.2020, Volodymyr Omelyan was accused in committing a crime under paragraph 2 of Article 211 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. According to the indictment, Volodymyr Omelyan issued a regulatory legal act that reduced state budget revenues contrary to the law, and the subject of such actions were budgetary funds on an especially large scale.
In October 2021 Ex-Minister was acquitted by High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine in connection with the lack of mandatory elements of the corpus delicti, in particular: the object of the crime, the objective and subjective sides of the corpus delicti.
On June 6 Appeal Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court left the acquittal unchanged.
The trial lasted about a year and became one of the most high-profile in Ukraine. Decision of the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine is one of the first acquittals among cases of national importance.
