EQUITY defends the interests of former Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelyan

Former Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelyan was served a notice of suspicion of embezzlement. The Anti-Corruption Bureau found out that in 2015, while serving as Deputy Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, the official acquired assets whose legality was not confirmed by evidence and whose value significantly exceeded his legitimate income. The total value of such assets at the time amounted to UAH 4.2 million. In addition, the investigation established that the Minister of Infrastructure entered false information in his electronic declaration.

According to the Indictment from 06.11.2020, Volodymyr Omelyan was accused in committing a crime under paragraph 2 of Article 211 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. According to the indictment, Volodymyr Omelyan issued a regulatory legal act that reduced state budget revenues contrary to the law, and the subject of such actions were budgetary funds on an especially large scale.

• On April 2021, High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine found Volodymyr Omelyan not guilty of committing a crime under paragraph 2 of Article 211 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
• On June 2022, Appeal Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court upheld an acquittal of Volodymyr Omelyan - Ukrainian ex-Minister of Infrastructure!
• On March 28, the Criminal Cassation Court of the Supreme Court upheld the acquittal of Volodymyr Omelyan!
