EQUITY represented interests of Andriy Kobolyev, the former head of «Naftogaz» company when choosing a measure of restraint in High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine.
On January 23, partners of EQUITY Taras Poshyvaniuk and Olexandr Lysak took part in the court hearing and persuaded the court to dismiss the motion of NABU detectives on choosing a measure of restraint against Mr Andriy Kobolev in the form of detention with an alternative of bail in the amount of UAH 365 million.
According to the prosecution, Andriy Kobolyev is suspected of misappropriation of funds received for winning the Stockholm arbitration against russian Gazprom.
The court agreed with the arguments of #EQUITYteam regarding the risks of hiding of the suspect from the investigation and obstructing the collection of evidence during the pre-trial investigation.
The former head of Naftogaz himself said that he realized that a suspicion was being prepared while he was abroad and immediately returned to Ukraine to avoid giving rise to accusations, dispel all doubts and prove his innocence.
The next, no less important, part of the exam is still ahead, and the case is ongoing! We will make every effort to ensure a fair proceeding!
EQUITYteam consisting of partners Taras Poshyvanyuk and Oleksandr Lysak, counsel Rodion Kokosh, senior associates Maksym Saliy and Valeriy Kirchev, associate Yulian Durda and junior associate Serhiy Kozak continues to work on the case.
